Order Paper!

Doug was a great friend, a phone maven, an ace photographer and, in a very background way, a guy who got stuff done.

Annual, The Pointer, Model Parliament, Doug was there taking care of all the grotty little details.

He was lucky enough to have a great family who kept open house from about 9:00PM until late. It was not so much a party as a chance to sip a bit of Rob Hart's duty free while playing Pong or Risk or Diplomacy. All day games of Diplomacy likely started in about Grade 11.

But long before then Doug convened and refed a weekly touch football game on the grass hockey field in front of Point Grey. He'd phone everyone the night before and about 10 we'd show up and push the "snot rag" up and down the field. We played with a pee wee football - which Ron Karell (and is he coming) could throw the length of the field. No adult supervision, I don't think our parents had much idea why we took off at 9:50 unless it was raining, hard. Off to Mary's for cokes after the game.

It was Doug's show.

I miss it to this day.
